6 Yoga postures to keep yourself fit
Working on your body is working on your self, but staying fit and being healthy is altogether a different concept. Being healthy includes your physical health , mental health as well as your lifestyle while fitness is restricted to some level of your body systems. Yoga can help you achieve a balance between the two simultaneously. Yoga is all about mind-muscle connection. Stronger the mind-muscle connection, the better is your level of health and fitness. Practising yoga is a strong supplement when talking about working on yourself as well as a huge undertaking to your body to excel in health.
Patience and practice is what you need the most to establish a sound connection between your mind and body. Remember to keep at it- practice makes a man perfect.
Here I am sharing some yoga asanas that I have been practicing these days to keep myself fit.
1. Surya Namaskar-
The best possible way to start with your practice is doing some Surya namaskars. These are said to be the most effective warm-up as all our body parts actively engage while doing it. The benefits of Surya namaskar are manifold like improving blood circulation, increasing overall flexibility and strengthening the heart and digestive system.
2. Halasana-
This asana takes a bit more time to get perfection and requires spine flexibility. You do not want to rush into the asana as it has its own risk of injury for those who do not have a flexible back. Halasana is beneficial in curing insomnia, reducing stress, stimulating thyroid gland and stretching the spine and shoulders.
Beginners tip- While coming out of this asana do not give a jerk to your back, come out of this asana real slow.
3. Bakasana-
Bakasana is all about playing with the balance of your body. This asana brings our body in an equilibrium where our sense of balance and strength is heightened. Your body is completely balanced on your arms. Bakasana is helpful in strengthening of your wrists and arms, achieving flexible back and training your mind.
4. Ustrasana -
Also known as the camel pose, helps us improve our core strength as well as hip, spine and shoulder flexibility. This also is beneficial in reducing fat on thighs and abdomen.
Beginners tip- Try to open up your chest as much as possible, it will give you a better posture.
5.Chakrasana-
It is a form of backbend and gives your spine a deep stretch. Reliably performing chakraasana triggers your nervous system resulting in reduction of anxiety and stress. It also promotes weight loss and strengthens the spine as well as your shoulder.
Beginners tip- Build your shoulder strength and mobility before trying this asana.
6. Plank-
Plank is one of the exercise that has multiple benefits. Start with doing a 30 seconds plank and gradually increase your time. Plank will teach you to balance your body , maintain correct posture and most importantly it will help you build core strength.
BONUS TIP- Each time you come out of an asana that involves a deep stretch make sure you do the opposite stretch. All of the above exercises involves back stretching so make sure that you do the child's pose ( Balasana) in order to get an opposite stretch.
Have some patience and make the best use of your leisure time and start giving something to your body that it has been longing for. Connect with me on instagram https://www.instagram.com/
